Pastor David Daumer, or Pastor Dave as he prefers to be called, was installed as Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church on July 31, 2022.
Pastor Dave and his wife, Ruth, both grew up in Hammond, IN right outside of Chicago as you can see by all of the Chicago Cubs memorabilia in his office and their home. They first met in confirmation class and were later married on January 6, 1979 (Epiphany).
Pastor Dave and Ruth have two daughters, Mary and Anna. Mary Fyfe lives in Grasonville, MD just across the Bay Bridge with her husband Steve and children Isla, Sidney, and Wesley. Anna, their younger daughter, lives at home and works at the Aquarium and Zoo Association in Silver Springs in member support. The Daumers have two golden retrievers, Pax and Accalia, who are thoroughly enjoying their new big backyard.
Pastor Dave and Ruth both attended a commuter campus of Purdue University in Hammond, IL, where Pastor Dave received his BA Degree in Sociology/Psychology and Ruth received her Associates Degree in Nursing.
Pastor Dave graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, IN in November 1983. He was installed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA in 1984, where he served until 1989. In 1989, he became the pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, Orange City, IA, where he served for 33 years before moving to Bowie. He also served the last 20 of those years at St. John’s, a small rural congregation in Ireton, IA.
Ruth has additional degrees in Nursing, with an EDD (Doctorate in Education). She has both taught and administrated nursing programs, including developing a nursing program at Northwestern College, Orange City, IA. Ruth has been very active with Parish Nursing in both the churches and communities where they have served.
They are both very excited to be here at Trinity in Bowie.
